Ruti de Vries

Ruti De Vries (b. 1989) is a multi-disciplinary artist incorporating painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and collage. Her practice consists of dialogues between cultures, urban symbols, traditions, mythologies, and folklore, into which she weaves contemporary themes. De Vries is influenced by the worlds of fashion, stage, and textile design. She frequently works with simple materials and ready-mades from which she creates elaborate scenes that explore the relation between painting and sculpture, installations and stage design.
