Raffi Lavie

Raffi Lavie (1937–2007) was a prominent multidisciplinary artist and painter, teacher, and critic with a profound impact on the Israeli art field. Lavie played a key role in the development of modernism and avant-garde movements in Israel, and was the founder of the “Ten +” group. He opposed iconological interpretations of his work, favoring a modernist-formalist approach. He emphasized a formalistic confrontation between the various elements of composition, reflecting his commitment to the Ars Poetica perspective on art.
