Moshe Gershuni

Moshe Gershuni (1936–2017) was an influential Israeli artist, known for his diverse practice and approach to integrating symbols, text, unconventional materials and themes. His works are included in the public collections of the MoMA, New York; The Israel Museum; Tel Aviv Museum of Art; Jewish Museum NYC; and the British Museum. Gershuni’s conceptual themes provoked inquiries that diverged from the norms of his era; he incorporated symbolism related to war, the Holocaust, religion, and homoeroticism while criticizing Israeli Zionism-nationalism society.
