Abraham Walkowitz

Abraham Walkowitz (b. 1878, Russia) was a Russian-American painter grouped with early American Modernists. He is known for his watercolor scenes of simplified figures in different surroundings and for portraying American dancer Isadora Duncan, a frequent subject of his works. He participated in the influential 1913 Armory Show, which included works by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. The featured works blend early pieces from his period as a student at the Académie Julian in Paris (1906) and are considered rare art historical records.
